Many people are aware of the wonderful health benefits that can be derived from running. Not only is running a great cardiovascular workout that helps runners stay physically fit, it also raises self-esteem and relieves stress. Recently, running enthusiasts are joining together to create running clubs to not only benefit their training, but also as a great social outlet.

Running clubs create a welcoming community for runners interested in competing in races or for those who run simply for sheer enjoyment. They also provide runners with the motivation they need by training with other runners. In a running club, members are able to share their training tips with each other as well as celebrate their accomplishments together. Running clubs are also a great place for runners to build friendships. There are running clubs available to running enthusiasts of all ages, abilities, and lifestyles. Runners can find the right running club by searching the Internet or their local newspapers.

A popular running club in Long Beach, Calif., is the AREC running club. AREC, which stands for “A Running Experience Club,” got its start in 1982 and has since been providing a safe running community. AREC prides themselves as a running club that takes responsibility in informing others of the many health benefits of running. Members of  AREC are provided with AREC team clothing and are able to attend special running club events.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runners (GFLRRC) running club offers members a great opportunity in marathon training. In the GFLRRC running club, participants can sign up for marathon training led by a certified coach. Runners can also benefit from personalized training schedules for any level. The cost of participating in the GFLRRC running club’s marathon training is $25 for GFLRRC running club members and $50 for non-members.

For runners on a budget who have been training for an out of town race, the Runners Circle can be an excellent resource. The Runners Circle was founded by Chris Hutchins, a 51-year-old woman who discovered her love of running in 1997. After qualifying for the Boston Marathon, Chris found herself going from business to business trying to drum up sponsorship to fund her participation in the Boston Marathon. After finishing the Boston Marathon, Chris found herself wanting to run in races around the world. She then decided to start the Runners Circle.

The Runners Circle is a database available to runners all over the world. By joining the Runners Circle, runners are able to share their experiences with others, and also open their homes to fellow runners. Members of the Runners Circle are required to open up their homes to out of town runners competing in races located in their area. This guarantees out of town runners a place to stay while competing in races. With Runners Circle, runners are not only given the chance to travel with free accommodations, they are also able to meet like-minded people and develop friendships with other runners.

Most runners appreciate running as an incredible work out for the mind, body, and soul. With the creation of so many running clubs around the globe, runners are given the chance to meet others who share their passion. Runners can choose from running clubs that suit their experience or their lifestyle. In addition, runners can share great running tips and form bonds with their fellow runners.
